About the role
As a Staff Applications Engineer in the Architecture & Open Source group, you will join a rapidly growing and highly motivated team responsible for supporting 's partners in applying intellectual property and software technologies in their latest state of the art projects including by:

  • Resolving issues and acting as trusted adviser to answer deeply technical inquiries
  • Delivering world-class technical training, whether by virtual classroom or traveling off-site to visit customers in person
  • Producing excellent technical enablement content for the Developer website and training portal
  • Bridging the gap between 's customers and internal engineering teams, providing detailed feedback and customer insights to improve our products and ensure we are best enabling customer success

You will engage with lead partners deploying 's Neoverse products, which are optimized for a wide range of cloud native server workloads executing at a world-class compute efficiency. You will play a key part in enabling an infrastructure transformation where processing is pushed to the edge where data is generated, thereby providing more scalability than moving all data to centralized data-centers.

This will be based either in San Jose, CA, or Austin, TX.

Job Requirements

What skills, experience, and qualifications do I need?

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent; other disciplines with applicable experience will also be considered.
  • Your strong interpersonal and communication skills are vital for success; we are looking for excellent written and spoken English
  • We seek enthusiasm and flexibility in putting customers first; you are hardworking with a real passion for enabling others to succeed
  • Can demonstrate an ability to manage competing priorities and work with peers in a global team spanning many cultures and timezones
  • Offer experience of customer-facing engineering or development of embedded software, firmware, and device drivers
  • We are seeking an understanding of computer architecture, ideally the architecture
  • Knowledge of SoC hardware components, system design, and software interfaces
  • Experience with FPGA image design, implementation, and execution
  • Know of assembly language programming, preferably an instruction set
  • We look for experience of platform boot/bring-up and low-level debug
  • Familiarity with software tools including IDEs, compilers, and debuggers
  • Experience with standard firmware implementations e.g. Trusted Firmware, UEFI, U-Boot
  • Experience with boot-time drivers e.g. PCIe, SATA, Ethernet, USB, Flash
  • Demonstrate a holistic view of system-level software architecture
  • Experience of technical training material development and delivery will be an advantage
