The Commonwealth Center for Children & Adolescents (CCCA) is seeking part-time RNs to provide age-specific nursing care to child and adolescent psychiatric patients in a safe, therapeutic environment using the least restrictive measures necessary. Located conveniently located at the crossroads of I 64 and I 81, CCCA is a 48-bed facility and is Virginia’s only public acute care psychiatric hospital for patients 17 and under. The role of the part-time RN is to provide additional coverage during shifts that are in need of additional staffing, particularly during 2nd shift, weekends, and holidays on a part-time, flexible scheduling basis. RNs work closely with other members of a multidisciplinary treatment team to provide collaborative trauma-informed psychiatric care to their assigned patients, prioritizing care according to patient acuity, and managing changes in patient behavior and/or physical condition as part of the treatment team. RNs utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, and document such care and patients’ response in accordance with policy and HIPAA regulations. Nurses are actively involved in admission, discharge, and transfer of patients, and provide patient and family education based on identified needs. Responsibilities include supervising, supporting, and working collaboratively with Direct Care Staff. The part-time RN position carries a highly competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience, as well as shift differentials.
