Job Summary

Food and beverage printing is the act of printing a variety of food and beverage mixtures through a stencil to create unique designs, logos, and messaging on substrates. The individuals who operate the printing tools and machinery are Food and Beverage Printers. Their job combines excellent communication, a keen attention to detail, and an ability to follow and execute the printing and preparation needs.

One of the benefits of using food and beverage printing is that it allows the printers and clients a fairly simple way to mass-produce foods and beverages that feature the same graphics, words or designs. The screen printer will receive his/her mixtures from the production coordinator or food and beverage mixing specialist and then manipulate the mix into the provided screens. Screen printers will then take their print and move it into the curing phase of manufacturing.

To work as a screen printer, a person likely needs some education or experience involving artwork, graphic design, or screen printing even at the high school or hobby level. Many food and beverage screen printers begin by assisting an experienced printer and learn the tools of the trade.. Food and beverage screen printers tend to work in a GMP enforced manufacturing environment, usually during regular business hours but occasionally more depending on demand.

This job location is in Mission Viejo, CA.

Screen Printer Tasks

  • Adjust machinery for optimum speed, registry and print quality.
  • Repair, maintain and store production tooling and fixtures.
  • Run, adjust and troubleshoot production equipment and machinery.
  • Recommend tooling and material handling changes to improve work flow or safety conditions.
  • Check production equipment to ensure proper machine set up, registration, mix viscosity and color.
  • Determine if each print is suitable for release into the curing phase.
  • Provide assistance in the packaging preparation.
  • The ability to lift 55 lbs

Essential Functions:

  • Receives production order and job assignments from supervisor. Reads order to verify quantity to be run, overrun tolerance, color sequence and substrate.
  • Obtains substrate, screen, squeegees, and related supplies needed to produce job.
  • Checks screens for proper color sequence and quality.
  • Sets up press according to established company guidelines, safety and job requirements.
  • Prints proof to check press setup, registration, viscosity and color.
  • Sign off on production paperwork.
  • Prints job maintaining optimum production speed and makes press adjustments to maintain print quality, registration and color.
  • Solves printing problems.
  • Completes production run including overruns and production samples.
  • Completes production records.
  • Ensures proper cleanliness of work station and immediate area by returning unused materials, removing trash, rags and extra sheets.

Education, Experience, Skills:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must have good judgment and logical thinking.
  • Problem solving and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Team sports experience a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $16.00 per hour
