The HR Manager works under the supervision of the Associate Director of Human Resources for the Division of Continuing Education and Extension, which employs approximately 300 employees, and approximately 2000 instructors.
The HR Manager provides a wide range of personnel services to Extension departments. Major areas of responsibility include staff and instructors' payroll and timekeeping administration, and the administration of benefits pertaining to the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and disability management services. The HR Manager oversees the payroll team and provides supervision to 3 FTE.
The HR Manager also oversees a variety of HR related projects to improve operational efficiencies, internal communications and employee on-boarding and off-boarding experiences.

Qualifications for Position
In depth knowledge of employee relations practices, procedures and laws pertaining to performance appraisal, corrective action, and progressive discipline.
In depth knowledge of employment practices and procedures, laws, and University policies and procedures regarding FLSA, FMLA, sexual harassment policies, and discrimination and racial harassment policies.
Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, practices or procedures to: define problems or objectives, identify relevant concerns or factors, formulate objective conclusions, recognize alternatives and their implications and make recommendations.
Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational skills to implement and maintain responsibilities and to complete assignments under conditions of fluctuating workload with frequent interruptions.
Excellent computer skills and in-depth knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and the Kronos Timekeeping System (KTS), and the ability to create a variety of types of documents and analytical reports drawn from KTS.
Ability to coordinate meetings and training sessions, lead discussions and organize planning process.
Skill in recognizing and addressing problems with appropriate discretion, diplomacy and judgment.
Highly developed interpersonal skills to work effectively with Campus personnel, directors, supervisors, staff employees and the public from a variety of ethnic, social and educational backgrounds.
Ability to respond to customer needs and expectations in a supportive and professional manner, with attention to promptness and a focus on solutions.
Ability to work with large amounts of detail with appropriate attention to accuracy and clarity.
Skill in writing concise, logical, factual and grammatically correct memos, letters, reports, and training materials.

Working knowledge of University personnel policies, on-line systems, forms, benefits enrollment, injury reports and payroll/accounting systems.
