    The primary purpose of this position is to You will perform Technical Content (TCM) and Equipment Management functions to support the Air Force nuclear mission; you will also manage development, preparation, and production of nuclear weapons technical orders (TO).

    Responsibilities
    • Develop and provision for source data supporting TO preparation and maintenance.
    • Develop weapons loading/aircrew delivery TOs supporting nuclear certification of a variety of different aircraft from source data provided by airframe equipment manufacturers.
    • Support Air Force operational commands, systems program offices (SPO), system managers (SM) and engineering agencies on matters pertinent to weapons delivery and strategic airlift.
    • Provide the Branch Chief with periodic and comprehensive updates on the status of assigned programs, major challenges/issues, workload schedules and goals/milestones/objectives.
    • Prepare Technical Nuclear Safety Analysis (TNSA) of assigned aircraft nuclear systems to support the USAF nuclear safety program.

    Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-1670 Equipment Services Series.
    AND
    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level close to the work of this position that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform. Typically, we would find this experience in work within a field that is closely related. To be creditable, the specialized experience must have been equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11), pay band or equivalent. Specialized experience is described as: working as a skilled mechanic or maintenance worker, sales or service engineer, or planner or estimator in a technical group dealing with manufacture, utilization, repair, or operation of equipment; Reviewing and applying technical specifications and requirements; Analyzing equipment and forecasting spare parts requirements; Reading and interpreting engineering change orders, equipment requisitions, shop orders, and work orders; Analyzing contract specifications and examining pertinent equipment to determine if specifications are met; Analyzing or supervising maintenance, repair, or production operations to determine methods of improvement.
    FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
    1. Specialized practical knowledge of assigned systems/equipment and skill in applying this knowledge to unusual systems.
    2. Knowledge of a wide range of maintenance concepts, principles, and practices of nuclear aircraft systems, subsystems, equipment, and components and skill in applying this knowledge to difficult and complex assignments.
    3. Knowledge of AF Program planning, funding and management information systems (i.e., logistics management) in relation to nuclear weapons and weapons systems.
    4. Broad knowledge of the organization and working knowledge of responsibilities and policies governing logistics support for nuclear weapons, operation command requirements and TO specifications.
    5. Ability to coordinate and evaluate efforts of functional specialists to identify specific requirements and develop/adjust plans and schedules to meet each requirement on time
    .PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
    VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Additional information

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is sedentary and requires no special physical abilities. It may involve some walking, standing, bending, or carrying of light items.
    WORK ENVIRONMENT: Most work is performed in an office setting. However, the incumbent is required at times to visit flight lines, maintenance facilities, etc. Can be exposed to cold/hot weather, high noise, etc. Special safety precautions and protective clothing devices are required during these visits.

    ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBERS: The VOW Act requires federal agencies to treat an eligible active duty service member as a veteran, disabled veteran, and preference eligible (as applicable) when applying for civil service positions before the effective release or discharge date. Appointment of military members before the release or discharge date is permissible if the member is on terminal leave. At the time the active duty member applies for a civil position, he or she must submit a "certification" memo in lieu of a DD-Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty.     • Expected Date of Discharge/Release from Active Duty
    • Terminal leave start date (if applicable)
    • Expected character of service/discharge and type of separation (i.e. separation or retirement)
    • Must be certified within 120 days of anticipated discharge
    • Signature by, or by direction of the adjutant, personnel office, unit commander, or higher headquarters commander.
    Note: The VOW Act provides tentative preference. If appointed, a DD Form-214 must be submitted upon receipt.
