    Duties Summary

    This position is located in the Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory, US National Poultry Research Center in Athens, GA.

    Responsibilities
    • Assists in one or more phases of the research process by performing a variety of standardized or routine duties, in a laboratory, field, or greenhouse environment, common to the assigned area of work.
    • Performs routines in support of research projects.
    • Duties involve standardized tests, procedures, routines, or operations which require a general knowledge of basic biological science.
    • Resolves problems encountered or to make adaptations in the sequencing of the tasks performed.
    • Records instrument readings, collects samples, and takes measurements.
    • Keeps detailed records of experimental data.
    • Tabulates and summarizes data using personal computers and software packages.
    • Recognizes subtle variations in often-repeated experiments.

    Qualifications Applicants must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements by 11:59 pm Eastern Time on the closing date of the announcement. The duties of the position must be related to either the student's academic or career goals.
    PATHWAYS ELIGIBILITY
    To be eligible, this position must be related to the student's academic or career goals ( i.e., biological sciences).
    GS-04:
    Education: Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.
    GS-05:
    Education: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree. Education

An unofficial copy is sufficient with the application if it includes your name and the necessary course information; however, if you are selected, you will be required to submit official transcripts prior to entering on duty. Education must have been successfully obtained from an accredited school, college or university. If any education was completed at a foreign institute, you must submit with your application evidence that the institute was appropriately accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as equivalent to U.S. education standards.     Additional information

    Student Interns must continue to meet the Pathways Program requirements throughout the duration of the appointment. Incumbents will be required to provide proof of continued enrollment and good standing (2.0 GPA)each semester or grading period throughout the internship program. Failure to do so will result in termination of the appointment.
    Upon completion of all program requirements, Pathways Interns may be converted to a term, career-conditional or career appointment within 120 days following successful completion of all their education; however, conversion is not guaranteed.
    The full performance level (FPL) of the position to which converted may be up to the GS-05 level.
