Responsibility, first and foremost, is to lead by example, to shape and sustain a working environment most conducive to the successful performance of those entrusted to his/her leadership and direction; creating a positive atmosphere and culture within the Lodging Division and its constituent branches that reflects the pride, professionalism, sense of accomplishment, fulfillment, collaborative engagement, well-being, and wholehearted customer focus of its employees is the incumbent’s essential purpose and focus of main effort.
Responsible for management control and efficient operation of Onslow Beach. Responsible for the front office, housekeeping and maintenance functions. Conducts surveys and studies to ensure that services and facilities meet the needs, cleanliness and desire of patrons. Implements new policies or innovative promotions that increase occupancy rate, deliver quality guest service and maintain the required level of profitability. Develops and implements strategies/procedures to ensure safety and security of occupants. Responsible for the oversight and management of the beach activities and facilities located at Onslow Beach to include, but not limited to; recreational lodging units of various sizes,site RV Park/Campgrounds, beachfront operation to include rental of beach equipment, facility management of public beachfront pavilions and meeting facilities, and all related beachfront operations and services. Provides operational guidance to Beach Detachment for operation of public beachfront and swimming areas during April to October timeframe.
Maintains oversight and monitoring of all facets of Onslow Beach to include financial operations to include development and execution of Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) operating budgets, NAF capital expenditure budget, Appropriated Fund (APF) expenditures and construction project development. Reviews/analyzes monthly financial operations, ensuring integrity of financial transactions and procurement management. Directs the preparation and execution of all reports required by higher authority. Recommends changes to improve financial status considered necessary. Manages new property resources and may provide direction on facility renovations and improvements. Ensures compliance of preventive maintenance and deep clean programs.
Directly or indirectly supervises employees. Maintains and enforces security of funds, merchandise, supplies and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste and abuse.Travel Required

A minimum of four years experience in managing a resort/hotel operation, one year having been at a supervisory level. A Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) designation certification or a successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in Resort/Hotel Management, Recreation Management, or related field leading to a bachelor’s degree, from an accredited college or university is preferred. Knowledge of financial management principles and experience in budget processes. Ability to supervise a diverse workforce. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; deals effectively with subordinates, management officials, and patrons. Ability to use a computer and various software. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required.Education Additional information
