Who We Are: The Global Health Research Complex (GHRC) at is a brand new state-of-the-art biocontainment research facility that will improve animal and human health within the State of Texas, across the United States, and around the globe. The GHRC supports and advances multi-disciplinary large animal and insect vector research, education, and training opportunities for faculty at Texas A&M and their partners from other academic institutions and industry. What We Want: The GHRC is seeking a Technical Laboratory Coordinator who will plan and perform routine and specialized microbiology and infectious disease research procedures and analyses; assist researchers with sample collection and processing; and ensure proper storage and handling of biological materials. We seek to hire a candidate who will support our commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accountability (IDEA) as stated above. The successful candidate will have Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Virology, or other related field and have three or more years of hands-on technical experience in a virology or related microbiology biocontainment laboratory setting (BSL-2, ACL-2, BSL-3, ACL-3, or BSL-3Ag); prior experience working in Select Agent-registered laboratories; experience working with infectious agents in large animal species and/or insect vectors in the laboratory; experience using specialized analytical and high-throughput laboratory equipment platforms; and experience working with diverse individuals and students. Safety : This job has a potential for safety hazard exposures and infectious disease exposures, and requires the ability to work sometimes under challenging conditions (high humidity/temperature, unpleasant odors, animal excreta and noise). Requires mobility and agility to move quickly in a dangerous situation. The applicant may be required to take several showers each day, is required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, and stand for prolonged periods of time.
Working Hours: May require working holidays, weekends, or “on-call” duty. Persons in this position are considered essential when the University declares an emergency, campus closure, class cancellations, etc., and are therefore required to report to work and remain on duty unless/until relieved by the direct supervisor.

Applicants must possess one of the following current and valid licenses: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA or MA). This position would be Full-time.
Current valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Experience as a construction worker, electrician or other technical role is helpful. Lift up to 45 LBS.
Mopping and cleaning tile areas including resident rooms and common areas; Vacuuming carpet areas including resident rooms, hallways, and common areas;
Candidates must have previous oilfield experince and a clean Class C Drivers License. Must be able to work outside in the elements.
