Job Title: Logistics Specialist
FLSA Status: Exempt
Department: Manufacturing and Supply Chain
Reports to: Manager, Distribution and Materials
GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE: The Logistics Specialist isresponsible for coordinating the logistical needs of North American Fleet Operations machines including machine mobilization between contracted operations.This individual is also responsible for management and coordination of inbound and domestic freight transportation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Transportation Management: Coordinate and track machine movement with via rail billing, heavy haul truck transport, or ferry service as needed for machine movement.Spot quote specialized transportation needs.Communicate move statuses via departure and arrival notices.
Problem solve logistics and carrier issues related to communications, pricing, shipment claims, and freight costs.
Coordinate with 3rd party freight agents to educate new carriers as to distribution expectations, procedures, and policies.
Assist in the development of new supply chains, routing process improvements, and procedures including freight expense and suggest cost saving opportunities.
Provide logistics support of in process manufacturing builds.
International: Coordinate efficient Canadian/Mexican cross border machine and/or spare parts moves.
Assist with shipment, documentation, and Electronic Export Information for small package freight.
Provide assistance with nominal order entry.
Manage NAFTA and certificate of origin submission activity.
Administrative: Keep accurate records of documentation related to international trade and traffic.
Code and approve freight bills for payment in 3rd party freight agent system.
Maintain high level of knowledge of transportation industry and trade regulations to assess impact and insure consistent compliance with laws related to documentation and retention.
BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES: Creating a Service Reputation
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: 2+ years International Trade and Transportation Management
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Associates Degree in Business or related field of study
Licenses/Certifications: Maintain Railroad Certifications
