    Duties Summary

    As a Technology Transfer Program Specialist at the NASA Ames Research Center in the Partnerships Office, you will serve as the Patent Portfolio Manager. You will engage commercial businesses that can leverage NASA patented technologies for commercial endeavor and be cross trained to back up other office functions as needed.

    Responsibilities
    • Communicates and collaborates with both external and internal technology experts. Maintains excellent working relationships with Inventors, Ames Technology Transfer staff, and HQ Technology Transfer leadership and staff.
    • Supports headquarters and center objectives, incumbent will be asked to execute and lead patent portfolio assessments and conduct direct marketing activities.
    • Present subsets of the portfolio to targeted audiences.
    • Post showcase webinars for domain specific audiences.
    • Field inquires that come in for various technologies.
    • Assess organizational processes, and create new work flows in support of meeting Technology Transfer requirements.

    Qualifications Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.
    Specialized experience in technology portfolio management includes working with technology transfer programs to ensure that the innovations developed for exploration and discovery and are broadly available to the public. Functions performed include but are not limited to: Experience representing patented technologies to targeted audiences that lead to license applications and assessing portfolio to determine marketing priorities. Use data to support analysis of portfolio and make recommendations to the Technology Transfer Office and HQ level.

    This position is announced under Direct Hire authority. Recruitment for this position will follow guidelines established by the Office of Personnel Management for use of Direct Hire authority.
    This appointment may be extended beyond the initial appointment date, for a period not to exceed a total of six years. There is no option for conversion to a permanent.
