Description of Duties/Essential Functions

Under direction, provides clerical support as a secretary to a unit supervisor and professional staff; composes and types a variety of complex correspondence, reports, and social investigations; exercises independent judgment and a command of legal, social, and medical terminology to review documents; greets visitors and answers incoming phone calls; compiles and assembles data; establishes and maintains filing system; generates first (standardized) response to applicant; maintains log of new cases coming to the team; receives, sorts, opens, reads, and distributes incoming mail.

Minimum Requirements

Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two years of office experience; requires ability to type accurately at 45 wpm; requires a working knowledge of legal, social, and medical terminology; requires extensive knowledge of office practices, procedures, and programs; requires knowledge of composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
