THIS IS A PART TIME WAGE POSITION WITH NO BENEFITS.
SVMHI is seeking a driver to provide safe transport of clients receiving services to and from destinations related to community transition. The primary duty of the position will be to transport clients who are on 48-hour passes to locations outside of our service area. The driver will transport the client by State vehicle to the site of the 48-hour pass, ensure the client is settled at the site, and return to the facility. The driver will travel back to the site to transport the client back to SVMHI, ensuring that the client arrives back at the facility when the 48-hour pass ends. A Social Worker or a designated alternate SVMHI staff member will serve as an escort during the both transports. The driver will also provide assistance for the transfer or discharge of clients to another facility or residence as necessary.Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Valid Virginia driver’s license is required. Driving record must be in good standing.
Candidate must have positive communication skills.
Candidate must have basic computer skills.
Candidate must have good map reading skills and/or competence in using a GPS to be able to plan for and arrive at required locations.Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness, personality disorders, or substance abuse disorders is preferred.Special Requirements
