The Youth and Family Therapist will provide services to youth and their families at the Passage Point housing program in Maple Valley (50%) and at an outpatient office in Issaquah (50%). Passage Point is a YWCA housing program that reunifies parents and children following incarceration, with the goal of transitioning them to independent housing.

The Therapist, using short- and long-term individual and family therapy, group counseling, educational classes and case management services, provides prevention and intervention services to children, youth, families, and communities. The Therapist should be able to provide crisis intervention, maintain strong boundaries, and have knowledge of childhood/adult trauma and domestic violence.
PRIMARY WORK LOCATIONS: Maple Valley & Issaquah
SCHEDULE: This can be a full-time (40 hour/week) or part-time (20 hour/week) position.


A. Counseling Services
1. Part of a 60% direct service goal requiring an ongoing caseload of 30-32 clients (1.0 FTE).
2. Provide trauma informed individual, family and group counseling, intake and assessment, crisis intervention, drop-in, and follow up services.
3. All services are provided within the Passage Point community.
B. Community Education
1. Part of a 60% direct service goal.
2. Provide education and prevention services, i.e., parenting classes, skill building classes, and community and school trainings and presentations.
3. Collaborate with Passage Point in training staff and residents in Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).

C. Outreach
1. Part of a 60% direct service goal.
2. Provide ongoing outreach to children, youth, parents, schools and communities to ensure awareness of community needs and service availability.
3. Develop and maintain positive relations with Passage Point and other community referral sources.
4. Attend Passage Point community events to connect with residents and increase access to care.

D. Case Management
1. Part of a 60% direct service goal.
2. Provide case consultation, linkage to and coordination of services with collateral contacts and advocacy for assigned clients.
3. Utilize agency and Passage Point programs/services in efforts to provide a continuum of care.
4. Attend regularly scheduled meetings and collaborate with Passage Point staff.

E. Documentation and Evaluation
1. Provide necessary agency and program statistical information and information necessary for program/services evaluation.
2. Maintain case records in an accurate and timely manner per all WAC, COA, PHP and King County requirements.
3. Meet with supervisor on a regular basis and attend required meetings, consultations and trainings.


A. Education and Experience
1. Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
2. Associate or fully Licensed or eligible for Washington State Licensure as a LMHC, LMFT, LASW or LICSW.
3. Certification in the field of Medical Family Therapy or as a Chemical Dependency Professional (CDP or CDPT) preferred.
4. Experience in counseling children, youth, and families.
5. Experience in leading groups, trainings, and workshops.

B. Additional Requirements
1. Must satisfactorily pass criminal history check (WAC 388-148-0035).
2. Must satisfactorily pass tuberculosis (TB) test.
3. Must successfully complete the following health certification requirements within 30 days of employment: CPR, First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens training.
4. Must have a valid Washington State driver's license or be able to obtain one by date of employment.

10. Knowledge of relevant WAC and COA standards and participation in the Performance Quality Improvement process.
