_ _POSITION TITLE: Community Engagement Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Executive Director (ED)
POSITION OVERVIEW: Perform community awareness presentations and attend community events to inform survivors of domestic and sexual violence of their rights and services available to them, raise awareness about the availability of Dawn Center services, and educate the public about the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence. Provide staff and volunteer training. Support efforts of coordination, promotion and implementation of activities that will lead to the acquisition of financial and other resources to support the ongoing operation and growth of Dawn Center and its programs. This is a full time position.
RELATIONSHIPS: Responsible to ED. Must develop interdepartmental relationships which are effective in improving the overall agency performance. Interacts with members of the community, school board staff, community groups, businesses, foundations or individuals who support or align with the agency’s mission. Works with volunteers and interns in all capacities. Plays an active role interacting with the community-based partner agencies and the development of a coordinated community response to domestic and sexual violence.
25% Engage in public awareness, community outreach, and educational activities such as tabling events, community resource fairs, and by speaking to community groups about Dawn Center services, dynamics of domestic and sexual violence, and/or educating the community regarding survivor rights and needs.
3% Actively participate in community networking with civic organizations and identified groups.
15% Represent Dawn Center at community meetings for purposes of public awareness or coordination of a multi-system, interagency, and/or multi-disciplinary response to survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence.
Provides community education/awareness, civic groups and other interested parties on identifying and helping victims.
5% Create educational/marketing materials for events, social media, and advertising campaigns as part of a public relations strategy. Routinely update social media platforms including website, Facebook, Twitter, and others as developed.
10% Provide domestic and sexual violence prevention and dating violence education to students in the middle and high schools, colleges, and community groups (refer survivors to services as appropriate). Develop and administer pre and post tests for the presentations.
5% Provide professional education to staff within the schools, colleges, and other professional groups. Develop and administer pre and post tests for the presentations.
2% Research curriculums and/or develop curriculums that are age and content appropriate for the various groups receiving the education.
Maintain statistics on Primary Prevention Education and Professional Training programs
(including attendance) and compile statistics for reporting in accordance with grant and funder requirements.
3% Develop and facilitate Coordinated Community Response (Community Action Team) meetings.
2% Attend web trainings and participate in conference calls as outlined by grant requirements.
1% Develop and update long-term planning for the Primary Prevention Education program.
5% Develop brochures and other marketing collateral describing the services provided by agency programs (including, but not limited to, the development of presentation materials, brochures, newspaper notices, and public service announcements). Create promotional or marketing materials for special events, appreciation events, fundraisers, and other awareness events as needed.
5% Assist with the planning of special awareness events and fundraisers to support the ongoing operation and growth of Dawn Center and its programs.
2% Create and publish quarterly electronic newsletter to the community listserve.
5% Conduct required staff and volunteer training as requested.
2% Develop an Annual Agency Impact Report.
Other duties as assigned by the ED.
5% Provides crisis intervention as indicated to Dawn Center participants and hotline callers.
5% Provide referrals for identified victims.
May assist with locating grant opportunities or completing grant check lists as needed.
May attend Board Meetings as requested and work with the ED and the Board in development of fund raising strategies and special events.
Does not respond to requests from the media unless directed by the ED.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Bachelor degree in related field preferred.
Understands the dynamics of domestic & sexual violence.
Strong presentation skills and a solid understanding of the issues surrounding domestic and sexual violence.
Experience in training/education and/or marketing preferred.
Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, volunteers, community partners, and the community at large.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.
Computer literate, including proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, and
Knowledge of social media.
Ability to function independently and as a team member.
Ability to manage multiple projects.
Able to work flexible schedule and attend evening/weekend meetings and/or events.
Ability to display sensitivity and respond appropriately to cultural differences in the service population, coworkers, and in community at large.
Willing to use own vehicle for travel. Must have valid driver's license and auto insurance.
Must pass screening by FDLE and Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.50 per hour
