The Department of Social Sciences at is seeking applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Political Science and Public Administration to begin in August 2021. Area of specialization is in American Politics with a secondary specialization in Public Policy/ Public Administration. Preference will be given to a candidate who can offer courses in Organizational Theory and/or Public Policy. Special consideration will be given to candidates who can also instruct courses in Policy Analysis and/or Non-Profit Administration. The position requires 24 semester hours of seated and online undergraduate/graduate teaching per year, and the candidate must have a Ph.D. in-hand before August 2021. A Ph.D. with an MPA or a Doctor of Public Administration will be strongly considered. Successful candidates may be required to teach classes that meet during non-standard (early morning, evening) work hours and/or at the Henry County or Fayette/Peachtree City instructional sites.
Candidates should have evidence of superior teaching and fruitful scholarship, as well as experience working with diverse student and community populations. Success in pursuing externally funded research opportunities is desirable, as is experience or interest in working with non-traditional student populations. The mentoring of undergraduate Political Science majors is an essential responsibility.
