Full Description :
This is technical field work in the construction inspection of Water Resource projects to ensure compliance with contractual design and engineering specifications. Employee will inspect assigned jobs and is responsible for proper compliance with specifications and regulations relating to workmanship and materials. Work involves maintaining records of daily activities and construction projects such as pipe laying, requesting tests of construction materials and other related construction activities for specification conformance; interacting and working closely with department engineer and design staff. Salary: $22.50 – $30.48 Hourly Close Date: 01-18-2021 (11:59 PM EST)
Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
Possess and maintain a valid Driver License.
Have at least one (1) year of journeyman, contractor, and/or inspection experience on engineering or public works construction projects such as roadways, bridges, seawalls, buildings, utilities and/or similar projects.
Have knowledge of standards for materials and workmanship in construction projects.
Have the ability to read engineering plans and specifications related to civil engineering projects.
Have basic computer skills.
Be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, you must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.
Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
Have a valid water distribution and/or wastewater collection license.
Have knowledge of surveying practices and techniques, and engineering principles and practices related to construction.
Have experience in the construction and installation of potable water and/or wastewater pipes and utilities.
Have the ability to work from oral and written instructions and accurately document daily construction inspection activities.
