The Social Services Department assists with maintaining the existence of the social service program designed to meet the individual physical, mental, and psychosocial needs of the residents, meets the state and federal regulations and standards of the healthcare delivery established by the facility.
The Social Services Director reports to the Nursing Home Administrator and assumes administrative authority and accountability for the provision of medically related social services that assist the residents to attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental and psychosocial well-being. Services provided meet professional standards of social work practice, consistent with state and federal laws and regulations. Guides facility staff in matters of resident advocacy, protection and promotion of residents' rights. In collaboration with Nursing Home Administrator, allocates resources in an efficient and economic manner to provide medically related social services. Education Requirements
Baccalaureate degree in Social Work or Baccalaureate Degree in a human services field (including, but not limited to. Sociology, Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology.
Work Experience: One year supervised social work experience working directly with individuals in a health care setting.
Freedom from illegal use of drugs, and freedom from use and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for employment in this position.
