ABOUT THE PROGRAM
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
This position determines initial financial eligibility, to periodically review financial eligibility and to update verifications and documentation as required for Title XIX, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP),
various Medicaid programs
The office provides for social and financial services to the elderly and people with disabilities who are recipients of Title XIX.
95% of work is completed in the office, there will be occasional need for field work that may involve going into a consumer’s home
. May come encounter irrational, hostile, or angry people.

THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO QUALIFY: Two years of experience determining eligibility for an agency program by interviewing to assess the needs of clients, and interpreting and applying the policies, rules, and guidelines that are applicable to the client's situation.
Any college courses may be substituted for the two years of general experience on a year-for-year basis (45 quarter hours is equivalent to one year of experience).
Experience determining eligibility for Title XIX medical programs, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP),
various Medicaid programs
or other state or federal programs.
Experience working in a social/human services field where you interviewed customers to obtain information and determine eligibility.
Experience interpreting and applying policy.
Experience communicating eligibility decisions orally and in writing.
Experience reviewing applications, processing paperwork within established timeframes and verifying information.
