Full Description :

The Career Advisor Assistant works directly with job seekers at our career centers in South Mississippi. The service we provide at our career centers is to assist members of our community apply for jobs, create resumes, build interview skills as well as provide community resource referrals. This role supports Goodwill Workforce Development programs and with departmental administrative functions as well.
Essential Job Functions
Assist job seekers and clients with applying for jobs, providing support for creating a resume, and assisting with submitting job applications online.
Responsible for oversight of the career center reception area.
Coordinate participant and job seekers in Community Service, Vocational Rehabilitation, Senior Program, On-the-job training (OJT) programs, and other referrals.
Answers career center phones and refers call to appropriate departments, including external community referrals.
Provide excellent customer service to program participants.
Provides clerical and administrative support.
Maintain records of job seekers, participants and trainees served through appropriate sign in sheets.
Recordkeeping, electronic filing and retention utilizing HMIS software.
Drafting letters, scheduling appointmens and conducting follow up calls to clients.
Assist Training Manager, Senior Career Advisor, and Case Managers and other departmental staff as needed.
Assist with special functions and job fairs as needed.
Ordering of office supplies.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of telephone operations, email, printing, copier, and scanning.
Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Knowledge and ability to assist applicants on how to set up email accounts, resume writing, and submitting job applications online through employer websites.
Ability to enter data accurately.
Demonstrate a typing speed of 35 to 50 WPM.
Must be ability to communicate effectively and respectfully.
Education and Experience Required
High Scholl diploma or GED.
Must have proficient computer operation skills with the ability to work with a variety of software and/or programs.
Must have at least 3 years experience of customer service skills.
