This position is located in the Supply Room, Business Operations Division.Examples of Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to all employees by maintaining and managing the agency centralized supply room; and to perform tasks involving the requisition, purchasing, and acquisition of supplies, forms, and small equipment. Oversees copy reproduction by operating two large-scale copiers and one duplicating machine. This position has contact with federal and state vendors, county staff, agency staff and local vendors in the requisition, receipt and distribution of supplies and forms. Public contact must be professional and courteous.
The person in this position will operate an agency desktop computer and utilize Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, etc., daily. Utilize a variety of other office equipment including, a calculator and other office equipment to maintain records, record financial data and make computations. Operate industrial equipment, i.e., pallet jack, truck lift, binding machine and heavy-duty cutter. The person in this position must be able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds and a maximum of 50 pounds as frequent lifting is required.
In addition, this position reviews purchase orders and invoices to ensure accuracy. Analyzes and verifies all transactions and documents, (including receipts and bills) regarding the acquisition and acceptance of supplies and small equipment. Assists with maintenance and issuance of emergency shelter kits in times of natural disasters to all DSS assigned shelters.
The workload fluctuates frequently on a daily basis; therefore, this position must maintain flexibility in work schedules to meet emergency requisitions or demands and respond accordingly. This position may be called upon to provide coverage in other areas of Business Operations in the absence of an employee or when demands of the workload so warrants.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills, and abilities gained through at least one year of office assistant/secretarial experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Necessary additional requirements:
Successful completion of Word, Excel and Spelling test will be required. Candidates selected as highly qualified will be contacted via email by a Human Resources representative to schedule testing.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: General knowledge of office or work unit procedures, methods and practices. General computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. General knowledge of and ability to use correct spelling, punctuation and specialized vocabulary; ability to proofread. General knowledge of office accounting and record keeping procedures, mathematics and their application in the work environment. Ability to learn and apply a variety of guidelines. Ability to use a variety of office equipment. Ability to work with people with courtesy and tact. Ability to screen communications based on predetermined guidelines to independently respond or route inquiries. Ability to record and compile information based on general guidelines. Ability to gather and give information and instructions regarding the work process or procedures. Ability to balance and reconcile figures. May require ability to coordinate work of other support staff, student workers or volunteers. Ability to learn to use specialized office equipment.

The employee in this position will be operating motor vehicles for Cumberland County and shall have a valid North Carolina Driver's License.

This position will require assisting in emergency and/or disaster situations.
