Job Description

Logistics, Distribution and Transportation Coordinator (Dock Scheduler)
This role will office out of the Lancaster, TX Distribution Center, but will support the Kansas City DC
Primary responsibility is to tender loads to carriers utilizing the Transportation Management System (TMS) tool in a manner that insures the customer requested ship dates (RSD/RAD/SAT are met.
THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THIS POSITION?

  • Route orders daily in compliance with the transportation route guide; ensuring timely execution to meet the requested ship date and secure carrier capacity.
  • Operate the Transportation Management System (TMS) to route orders, track carrier performance and troubleshoot any loads that may be at risk of missing the requested arrival date.
  • Ensure all new orders comply with guidelines on weight and method of shipment.
  • Schedule appointments in WMS (Warehouse Management System) on all loads; working with the third party facility manager on dock capacity scheduling.
  • Work with drop carriers to maintain trailer pool.
  • Work with Customer Account Specialists (CAS) on scheduling issues.
  • Maintain reason code input within WMS for open order status reporting.
  • Review previous day's dock schedule to ensure all orders shipped.
MAIN INTERACTIONS WITHIN & OUTSIDE THE ORGANIZATION (Key job roles both internally and externally with which the job-holder interacts. Include frequency (daily, weekly, monthly) and nature of interaction.)
Within the Organization – Internal Warehouse Team (daily/weekly), Regional Transportation Manager (daily/weekly), DC Managers (daily/weekly), Warehouse Logistics and Supply Chain Integration Teams (daily/weekly), Dock Schedulers (daily/weekly), Delivery Processors (daily/weekly), National Site Inventory Control Teams (daily/weekly), Quality Department (daily/weekly), Finance (weekly/monthly), Corporate Audit Team (annually), National Inventory Team (daily/weekly), Local and National Planning Team (daily/weekly). All key job roles are consulted and aligned at frequencies noted in order to execute the sites’ daily/weekly/monthly objectives and deliver against all site targets to internal and external customers.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION?
(List Education/Certification, Years of Experience, Functional Knowledge, Language/Communication Skills,
Interpersonal Skills, etc.)

  • Warehouse/Distribution experience in Transportation or Order Processing is preferred
  • Associates or Bachelor degree in related field stongly preferred.
  • Strong MS Office skills required (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point and Access), prior SAP experience a plus
  • Strong communication skills including good verbal, written and listening skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work autonomously/self starter
  • Team player
  • Ability to consistently achieve desired results, manage multiple tasks, set priorities, act decisively and set personal high standards
  • Willingness to work non-Monday-Friday work week as needed.
