THIS POSTING MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME ONCE A SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED Performs assigned clerical work such as document processing and/or record keeping assisting in the daily operations of the Investigation division of the Medical Examiner's Office. This work will be varied and involve independent analysis, problem solving and clerical skills. Requests for information will not be provided in a standardized format. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs complex clerical duties such as classifying, consolidating, summarizing, sorting, filing, and distributing documents and information. Utilizes the computer, calculator, typewriter, and other standard office equipment to record, store, and retrieve information.
Contacts police departments, physicians, and other agencies to gather information concerning death investigations.
Interacts with next of kin regarding details of death investigations.
Will often go to other departments to deliver and/or receive documents.
Removes personal property from deceased persons and completes the receiving process of bodies into the building and the release of bodies to funeral homes. This includes physical contact with bodies including those that have sustained significant degrees of trauma, are in varying states of decomposition, children, etc.
Assists with the training of new employees.
Routinely answers questions about death investigations via telephone and/or personal contact with next of kin.
Provides general assistance to death investigators during the course of their investigations.
Performs all other related duties as assigned.

High school diploma or GED.
Three (3) years of Full-Time experience working in a medical or clerical environment.
Ability to operate telephone switchboard.
Must have excellent communication, typing and computer skills.
Must have some knowledge of medical terminology.
If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment at new hire processing
Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudication in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.
