The VP Information Technology, Technology Foundation drives innovation and adoption of industry best practices, while leading application maintenance, security, and stability of key platforms. Key strategic collaborator to global enterprise services to provide the infrastructure backbone and operations for IT and Digital products. The VP will identify, develop and implement near and long term winning strategies for the maintenance, retirement, currency, and rationalization of technologies and services that support the US Business Group as well as lead disaster recovery and business continuity planning. With a deep understanding of application support and maintenance, technology platforms, and digital transformations, the VP will modernize Sun Life’s culture and technology footprint, implementing state of the art and leading technology solutions. This individual will also actively engage and partner with key stakeholders across the Information Technology organization, global Enterprise Services, and broader Sun Life business.

Awareness of Digital and Agile methodologies with broad infrastructure experience
Demonstrate executive level thought leadership, strategy development, and financial and operational planning
Rationalize applications within and across various business groups and a large enterprise
Develop strategy and roadmap for capabilities in conjunction with enterprise groups, vendors and other internal technology partners to remove technical debt and keep technology and application platforms current and secure
Develop ecosystem scorecards, SLA’s and KPI’s in conjunction with the enterprise and other technology partners to evaluate success and determine areas for improvement and areas of opportunity
Understand and interpret industry trends, influence business partners, and implement proactive solutions
Strong ability to both operate in, and lead, Agile teams in a large complex organization

Position Requirements and Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in computer science, information systems, computer engineering, related field or equivalent work experience Required with 15+ years industry experience with deep expertise in Technology, Production Support, Infrastructure, Data Privacy, and Security
12+ Years of IT Management, program management, consulting and/or strategy experience required
Experience across all IT functional areas preferred
Experience with digital technologies and successful launches of cloud solutions
Recognition as a transformational leader with proven ability to demonstrate leadership through influence, and lead change management
Proven experience building and supporting CICD automated pipelines with on-prem, cloud and hybrid infrastructures in an agile, DevOps context
Ability to form and lead centers of excellence that enable and partner with other technology and business teams
Hold the rare combination of technical, business, and emotional intelligence with significant senior-level management experience in a complex IT environment
Strong business and process knowledge, technology implementation, change management and large-scale program management expertise
Experience leading teams and organizations across large scale transformations
Poise and ability to act calmly and competently in high-pressure, high-stress situations
Thought leader, consensus builder, and an integrator of people and processes
Able to coordinate disparate drivers, constraints and personalities while maintaining objectivity and a strong understanding that client success and transformational value should go hand in hand
