As Team Member, you will be responsible for inspecting, grading, sorting and processing ferrous and/or non-ferrous scrap metals in order to achieve operational goals and objectives. The team member also provides exceptional customer service building and/or maintaining positive customer relations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Health & Safety Responsibilities:

Carries out responsibilities in compliance with the provisions of the governing Occupational Health and Safety legislation and its regulations, wearing any required personal protective equipment and clothing and operating in a manner that will not create hazards, to contribute to a safe workplace.

Inspects required personal protective equipment and brings health and safety issues to the attention of the immediate supervisor

Reports all accidents, incidents, and unsafe conditions to the immediate supervisor

Quality & Environmental Responsibilities: Carries out responsibilities in accordance with Quality and Environmental policies, procedures, and objectives to produce quality work product and contribute to an environmentally conscious workplace. Brings any environmental or quality issues and concerns to the attention of the immediate supervisor.

Performs the inspecting, grading, sorting and processing of ferrous and/or non-ferrous scrap metals and maintains work location in orderly condition in order to achieve operational goals and objectives. May use pallet scale to weigh non-ferrous materials.

May use computer system to input non-ferrous material codes and weights
- Accurately completes yard tickets and provides ticket to customer
- Sorts and deposits material into assigned location.

Process materials by breaking them down by commodity and removing all non-conforming material. Issues deductions for non-conforming material or material of zero value.

Operates material processing equipment, saws all, quick cuts, shear.

Completes general housekeeping functions.

Operates counterbalance forklift and/or skid steer in accordance with operation policies and procedures ensuring efficient material movement.

Transporting materials, bins, skids and hoppers as required.

Unloading and unloading materials from trailers.

Sorting large or over size materials with skid steer.

Provides exceptional customer service building and/or maintaining positive customer relations.

Greeting customers.

Assisting with the removal of material from customer vehicles.

Resolving general material disputes with customers.

Forwards unresolved customer disputes to supervision.

Provides prompt, efficient and effective service
Record and reports all equipment damage and deficiencies to supervision ensuring equipment is maintained in accordance with manufactures specification’s.
