MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current New York State School Building Leader (SBL) Administrative Certification
  • Previous administrative leadership preferred, but not required
  • At least 7-10 years as a classroom teacher preferred

The Monticello Central School District is seeking a forward-thinking and dynamic K-2 Primary Principal who can lead MCSD’s highly engaged faculty, staff, parents, students, and community. The successful candidate with have a vision of excellence in early childhood education, be highly motivated, and demonstrate an ability to impact student learning.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to maintain positive relationships and communicate effectively with all stakeholders
  • Knowledge of child development and expertise in effective equitable early childhood education pedagogical practices
  • A record of success as a teacher and administrator
  • Expertise in the supervision and evaluation of faculty and staff to promote professional growth and ensure high standards of professional accountability
  • Commitment to the equitable development of the whole child and a belief that all children can learn
  • Flexible, creative, and highly energized

Job Description

  • Provide leadership in K-2 academics, social emotional wellness and school culture, shaping an equitable vision of success for all students
  • Conduct needs assessments to determine short and long-term goals for the school’s curriculum, schedule, infrastructure, evaluation, communication, policies, professional development, and other areas
  • Continuously enrich knowledge in best practices in early childhood education
  • Create a climate hospitable to education through practices that maintain standards of student behavior on buses and in school, with an emphasis on restorative practices
  • Work collaboratively with Pupil Personnel Services and ENL Coordinator to improve achievement and opportunities for students with disabilities and ENL students
  • Coordinate building MTSS and ensure alignment with district MTSS plan
  • Work collaboratively with district Early Childhood Development Council and district preschool providers to ensure continuity of learning as well as effective transition between programs
  • Conduct 504 meetings and create 504 plans for students
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct faculty, grade level and team meetings in order to build a professional learning community
  • Be an active participant in district-wide meetings, and make recommendations to District Administration on any matter that will improve the excellence of the District
  • Use data to establish clear and measurable goals to monitor student progress, evaluate instructional programs, and understand cause data.
  • Leverage financial resources, plan building budget annually including staffing, professional development, materials and resources
  • Attend Board of Education meetings as necessary
  • Attend conferences and trainings as needed
  • Evaluate, mentor, and coach teachers

Perform any other related duties are required or assigned by the Superintendent
