Wage Grade: 730

Status: Non-Exempt, Position works a 12-month schedule

Reports To: Director of Alumni Relations

Overview: Under direct supervision, the alumni engagement and fundraising specialist creates loyal supporters and donors by working collaboratively with the Director of Alumni Relations and others in the Office of Advancement to engage alumni in the life of the college through social, fundraising, and volunteer programs and events.

Primary Duties:

  • Works with the Director of Alumni Relations on designated events and activities designed to engage alumni. Assists with communication, data selection and analysis, execution of planned events, and documentation related to events and activities.
  • Implement office plans for large and small fundraising efforts such as the spring multi-platform, multi-day of giving; one-time direct mail and/or digital fundraising appeals to targeted audiences; and ongoing annual giving solicitations.
  • Suggest, plan and implement responsive and proactive personal alumni correspondence for engagement and fundraising purposes.
  • As requested, facilitation and support a variety of virtual and in-person events managed by the Office of Advancement.
  • Work collaboratively with the Office of Communications and Marketing to create and execute social media alumni engagement strategies.
  • Connect with national and local organizations, publications, and professionals to stay abreast of trends in the field of higher education alumni engagement and annual fundraising. Suggest activities and initiatives to improve the Augustana Advancement outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Advancement team and Office of Student Life to connect Augustana students with alumni in fields of interest.
  • Provide assistance to other members of the office with ongoing projects and efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in a wide variety of technology platforms including Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Zoom, social media platforms and CRM software.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with diverse population of alumni and donors, campus community members, and current students.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to particular audiences.
  • Willingness to make giving requests and build relationships with a diverse set of donors.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 1-3 years of fundraising, communication, donor engagement, or other related experience.
  • Basic understanding of fundraising, development, annual giving and/or alumni relations preferred.

Work Environment:

This position in located on-campus in a traditional office setting.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Must be able to lift 25 pounds on a frequent basis. Also required is the ability to listen, hear, speak, read, write, climb stairs, bend, stoop, and stand for intermittently long periods of time. Must be able to use a computer to accomplish a variety of job tasks.

Expected hours of work:

Academic Year: 40 hours per week.

Summer: 40 hours per week.

Some evening and weekend work will be required.

Travel:

Some travel to regional events may be required estimated at 0-5%.
