AGGREGATE SUPERINTENDENTBlacksburg Quarry, Blacksburg, SC

Job Title: Aggregate Superintendent
Reports To: Aggregate Manager
Status: Exempt

This includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Checking that the quarry's production levels are maintained safely to schedule.
  • Balancing sales and output.
  • Altering the quarry's production system in accordance with the materials required.
  • Performance managing the production process and setting and monitoring targets.
  • Assist manager with providing company with information and statistics on the quarry's performance.
  • Assist with managing and regulating the quarry's budget.
  • Maintaining up-to-date records and dealing with a range of paperwork.
  • Assist with ensuring that key government health and safety legislation, (including MSHA) is implemented throughout the site.
  • Knowledge of with keeping up to date with relevant government legislation and industry developments.
  • Assist Manager with developing inspection systems and checklists.
  • Assist manager with writing development proposals and reports.
  • Assist manager with managing and recruiting staff.
  • Assist manager with closely monitoring all areas of the quarry to ensure that extraction and processing work is carried out to the highest standard.
  • Assist manager with liaising with staff on site and dealing with any technical or staffing challenges that arise.
  • Work closely with manager with undertaking regular site inspections and risk assessments in order to comply with all health and safety regulations.
  • Quality control with examining the materials produced to ensure that a high quality of product is maintained.
  • Assist manager with assessing equipment and production materials levels.
  • Ordering new items as required.
  • Checking that all vehicles on site are maintained to a good standard.


  • 5 -10 years of managing quarries/mining of aggregates with demonstrated results.
  • Working knowledge of MSHA regulations and possess a commitment to MSHA.
  • Safety certification a plus but working knowledge of safety with MSHA is a must.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with managing mining employees in a non-union environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not a must.

Employees must have 20/40 vision, either naturally or with corrective lenses. Hearing should be excellent or corrected by audio device.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; and chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
