Grand Blanc Community Schoolswebsite Description: Innovative, committed, enthusiastic individual with successful experience and passion for working with at-risk students who will design, initiate, and monitor support programs for at-risk students during and between transition grades (5th – 9th)
  • Oversight of K-12 McKinney-Vento and foster care program
  • Oversight of K-8 Summer Program
  • Utilize data and research-based criteria to identify 5th – 8th grade students who demonstrate risk of failing courses and/or not completing high school based on academic achievement, behavior, and/or attendance
  • Participate and provide support for MTSS processes for 5th – 8th grade students using data to identify and target interventions; work with appropriate staff to create, support, and implement intervention plans; participate in and support progress monitoring of intervention plans
  • Develop and coordinate leadership opportunities for identified students to promote character, social, and emotional growth (mentoring, service-learning, etc.)
  • Collaborate with appropriate staff to develop and coordinate transition and support plans for at-risk students from elementary to middle school and middle school to high school
  • Coordinate and develop programs to support families of at-risk students (i.e. workshops for families, academic support programs, and family connect activities)
  • Provide professional development and support for classroom teachers with understanding and meeting the needs of at-risk population
  • Maintain data base for identified students in 5th-9th grades with academic, behavior, and attendance data. Report on progress at end of each semester
  • Oversight of District English-Language Learner (ELL) program
  • Oversight of District Title I program
  • Other duties as assigned

Goals of Position:
  • 0% drop out rate for identified students
  • Reduced referrals to Center for Student Success in 10th grade
  • Zero failed classes for identified students
  • Increased connection and participation of parents/guardians of identified students

  • BA Minimum/Masters Preferred
  • Must meet Highly Qualified standards as specified by No Child Left Behind
  • Must possess valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
  • Five or more years of successful working with at-risk students
  • Experience working with families of at-risk youth
  • Knowledge and experience with teaching secondary level students
  • Ability to collect, interpret, organize and present student data
  • Excellent communication and personal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with variety of stakeholders
  • Experience in presenting and providing professional development

Salary: $78,800$87,000 (Management Support Manual)
