Responsible for providing meals of the highest quality and cost effectiveness while maintaining ServSafe procedures.


Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepares quality food according to standardized recipes and menus following appropriate portioning and serving of foods in a safe, sanitary manner.
  • Suggests recipe changes to utilize leftovers and other supplies.
  • Prepares food in a timely manner at specified meal times.
  • Follows ServSafe procedures.
  • Oversees proper food handling and utilization of all foods to prevent contamination, increase quality, and reduce cost.
  • Insures all food in refrigerator, freezer, and dry storage are labeled and dated; maintains and rotates patient food and emergency supply inventory to ensure all food is used within the expiration dates.
  • Controls food costs within budgetary guidelines, while maintaining quality. Responsible

for purchasing, transporting and/or receiving all food and housekeeping supplies.

  • Follows departmental policies & procedures, including sanitation, safety, cleaning procedures and storage, including cleaning food service equipment, kitchen food storage areas, dishes, utensils and cooking equipment on a daily basis.
  • Assumes responsibility for total kitchen operations and handles all situations in the kitchen according to policy.
  • Follows all dietary and applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Supports a dignified and caring atmosphere for patients.
  • Participates in training, inservices, and attends meetings as required.
  • Assists with projects as assigned and performs other related duties.

  • Remains in the service area during emergencies, and as appropriate and/or as scheduled, to work up to, during, and after the emergency to assist in providing quality care to all patients/clients. If you reside in a mandatory evacuation area and so must evacuate, or if there are any special family needs that need to be accommodated, management must be notified. Management will be sensitive to those needs but must be kept apprised of your location and a source of contact during an emergency so that, if required, they are able to reach you.   • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • 1 year related experience and/or training.
  • Must have a current national state recognized food manager’s license, obtained in the state of Florida prior to hire. The three recognized organizations are: ServSafe, owner of the National Restaurant Association®, The National Registry of Food Safety Professionals®, and Prometric. All licenses must be valid for five years and renewed before the expiration date.
  • Must be able to work all shifts in order to complete job responsibilities.
  • Must have a Valid Florida Drivers License and maintain current auto insurance coverage.
  • Maintains a neat appearance, good personal hygiene and appropriate attire at all times.
  • Maintains a safe and secure working environment and practices safe working habits.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide using money, weight measurement, volume and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or

diagram form.

  • Knowledge of dementia, particularly Alzheimer’s type is helpful.
  • Maintains confidentiality of resident and family regarding disease/diagnosis, financial and other information obtained during the course of employment.
  • Provides and promotes superior customer service, exhibits excellent communication skills with residents, families, team members and the professional community.
  • Supports a dignified and caring atmosphere for patients.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Must occasionally climb.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and depth perception.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works inside.
