Position – Resort General Manager

Company Description:

Lake Darling Resort is a family-owned, new, luxury resort comprised of over 800’ of pristine lakefront on one of the most premiere lakes in Central Minnesota. When completed, it will accommodate over 200 guests at any given time in beautiful 4- and 5- bedroom lakefront villas. The under-construction Clubhouse will have an indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, workout room and event area. There are two private sandy beaches, 3 docking systems, a marina with complementary paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, and other beach toys, boat and pontoon rentals, and a central park gathering area.

Job Description:

The Resort General Manager, reporting directly to the Owners, has an influential role in building the culture of the company to match the core company values, and continuing to build Lake Darling Resort into a luxurious destination with unmatched customer service, accommodations, cleanliness, fun and safety.

The position is responsible for overseeing the day to day resort operations, including resort lodging & reservations, supply management, hospitality & guest services, resort villas & grounds, rentals, and event & promotion coordinating, along with the resort team members including the front desk & reservation team, housekeeping team, and maintenance & marina team, and providing them, and the guests, with a safe and positive experience.

Requirements:

  • Hospitality management degree with 8+ years of management experience, 8+ years of hospitality management experience, or 8+ years of related management experience
  • Able to work days, evenings, weekends, and be on-call for emergencies
  • Able to complete physical demands required of the job
  • No criminal background related to, or effecting the safety, security or trust of guests, team members and owners
  • Valid driver’s license

Work Schedule:

  • 45+ hours per week from May through September, including weekends
  • 35+ hours per week from October through April, including weekends
  • Available for emergencies, lockouts, or other after hour issues requiring immediate attention

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies to drive reservations and growth, including but not limited to promotional events, deals and packages (e.g. Girls Weekend Getaway Package,

Teachers Appreciation Special), community outreach and inclusion, events, sponsorships, and marketing campaigns

  • Vendor optimization for supplies, laundry, credit card processing and other services
  • Improvement of policies, standard operating procedures and rules for both guests and team members to make the organization run smoother, safer and more profitably
  • Working with Owners to develop and achieve budgets for both top-line and bottom-line growth goals

Human Resources Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper staffing, particularly housekeeping and maintenance teams in the main season
  • Hire, train, and schedule new staff members
  • Create and implement scheduling for housekeeping and maintenance crews as well as overseeing their job performance and giving instruction as needed and fire employees who do not meet our staff standards
  • Schedule staff meetings regularly as required by monthly needs to ensure that all departments are communicating and working cooperatively
  • Handle team member disputes, issues, complaints and questions

Customer Service Responsibilities

  • Be knowledgeable of resort policies and procedures and implement them for both guests and team members
  • Greet guests at arrival, oversee and assist with check-ins, formalities, check- outs, and confirming all payments are made
  • Ensure that all visiting persons on the grounds are registered with verification of identity
  • Schedule rentals for boats, pontoons, and water toys
  • Provide acceptable solutions to issues that may arise
  • Be knowledgeable about local events and provide liaison services in our community between our guests who are unfamiliar with the area and local businesses.

Office Responsibilities

  • Ensure accuracy of reservations, villa availability and villas being clean and ready upon guest arrival
  • Optimize reservations to maximize availability while evenly distributing reservations between villas
  • Answer phone inquiries and assist with reservations
  • Petty cash accounting and control
  • Provide reports as required for bookkeeping and analysis
  • Ensure that all resort supplies are in stock and ordered as needed, including but not limited to toiletries, linens, cleaning supplies, villa inventory
  • Build out the Clubhouse store offering including but not limited to apparel and miscellaneous items
  • Keep updated inventory of all guest water equipment rentals and games

Villa, Clubhouse, Marina & Grounds General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Routinely conduct exterior Villa and Ground inspections to make sure they meet or exceed expected standards and to ensure and protect the safety of our guests and staff
  • Inspect all Villa interiors between guest visits to verify that they have been cleaned to the highest standards allowable and that all furniture and supplies are stocked and in good condition
  • Build and maintain Clubhouse plan for operations and maintenance
  • Work with staff as needed to complete interior and outside clean-up and maintenance in the event of illnesses, days off, heavy workloads, unplanned vacancies, or low season staff needs
  • Keep updated inventory supply list of all villas. If anything is missing or broken make note of it and replace and charge as appropriate
  • Manage bi-annual deep cleans and routine maintenance requirements
  • Hire contractors to perform services as needed
  • Work with Owners as needed to furnish new villas

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
