Full Description :

College of Business, Career & Student Success Center, invites applications for a full-time Academic Advisor. The position is based on campus in beautiful Athens, Ohio and is expected to begin in January 2021. The Academic Advisor position is responsible for providing academic advising and pertinent program information, as well as building and maintaining relationships with students from recruitment and initial contact through the various stages of enrollment, degree planning and eventual graduation.

Primary Accountabilites:
1. Advises students by assessing student goals and progress toward graduation based on curriculum requirements for the College of Business, including the execution of graduation audits as needed to provide complete information. Guides students in regard to their own academic success, including the appropriate selection and scheduling of courses, use of college and university resources, and professional development activities. Conducts low-level student counseling to inform referrals which promote student well-being, persistence, and retention. Interprets and works within the guidelines of , College of Business, and FERPA regulations Complies with best practices established by office in maintaining student advising records and statistical reports as necessary, including but not limited to the consistent creation of advising notes in the Faculty Advising Center and the Handshake appointment system. Acts as a resource for students, faculty, and staff by interpreting academic regulations, program requirements, academic policies, deadlines, and other pertinent information.

2. Works individually and in concert with other advisors to contribute to the continual improvement of advising activities, including but not limited to group and individual advising of all business majors, Bobcat Student Orientation activities, and advising students interested in transferring into the College of Business. Advises and assists interested students on the application process and requirements for admission to the College of Business. Works in collaboration with other other advisors and the Office of the Registrar to assist with degree conferral at the end of each semester. Also interacts with representatives from other university departments as needed to promote unit goals. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, at least 3 years of related work experience
