Humboldt Sawmill Company, LLC (HSC™) is looking for an experienced Knuckle Boom Operator to join our Sawmill team in Scotia, CA!
Humboldt Sawmill Company, LLC (HSC) located in Scotia, CA was formed in July 2008 through the reorganization of the former Pacific Lumber Company and related entities. Humboldt Redwood consists of forestry as well as lumber manufacturing and distribution operations. Humboldt Redwoods forestry operations include approximately 327 square miles (209,300 acres) of coast redwood and Douglas-fir forestlands. Our forestlands are located about five hours north of the Golden Gate Bridge in Humboldt County, California.

Operates Knuckle Boom machine in a safe and proper manner
Operates kunckle boom crane to correct and sort fouled and oversized logs and miskicks from stem merch.
Sorts logs according to machine specifications to headrig and/or DLI.
Monitors and controls logs to headrig infeed deck from 60’ ring debarker.
Controls corset rolls, rainbow log slip, put and take deck and bin four kick-out deck.
Sorts out log chunks and trash.
Works carefully to avoid dropping logs onto decks, corset rolls and belt conveyors as this will cause serious damage to structures and machinery.
Communicates regularly with other team members and participates in team effort in work area.
Keeps work area clean.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
One year related sawmill / planer experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to read and understand instructions and memos
Apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to add, and subtract, two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and communicate
The employee is occasionally required to sit
Frequently the employee is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
