The Director, New Product Launches and Return to Market, provides strategic leadership for establishing Go-to-Market Excellence (GTME) within the U.S. sterile Injectables business for commercial new product launch (NPL) and Return to Market (RTM) product activities. The strategies developed and implemented by this role will ensure that product launches and return-to-market products are realized successfully and on schedule, providing significant impact to the business and facilitating opportunities to drive strong business growth.

The Director, New Product Launches and Return to Market, drives collaboration with various stakeholders and governance bodies to gain alignment and successful execution of the deliverables from pre-concept to global launch and return to market of the products. This leader manages new product launches/return to market products generating $50$100 M in annual revenue.
The role works cross-functionally with business leaders, portfolio business leads, global marketing, finance, and other functions to drive accountability, communication, and status reporting across the entire SI portfolio. The position is responsible for overall leadership communication on New Product Launch and Return to Market status. This position engages frequently with the portfolio business leads to establish commercial launch plans for individual products, and verifies that plans are executed successfully. The position implements standards for commercial strategy reviews, including deliverables, timelines, templates, etc.


  • Create strategy for New Product Launch and Return to Market product requirements to drive execution excellence for bringing products to market successfully.
  • Leads project management for the development and commercial execution of new product launches, return to market products, product enhancement line extensions, LOEs / product transfers into the Injectables portfolio and other portfolio rationalization initiatives (i.e. SKU consolidation, product exits) as required.
  • Oversees the hospital injectable Return-To-Market and New Product launch teams, communicating detailed project execution plans and developing commercial strategies to drive incremental revenues to ensure maximum commercial effectiveness of all new product launches.
  • Design and implement standards for launch and return to market planning, communication, commercial strategy reviews (templates, timelines, etc.) and ensure ongoing adherence across all product portfolios.
  • Ensure alignment on commercial New Product Launch and Return to Market responsibilities and deliverables across multiple departments and functions, including global marketing, product development, supply chain, trade and finance.
  • Lead commercial product launch planning efforts and multidisciplinary teams to manage the commercial new product launch and return to market schedules across all product portfolios; act as the commercial program manager for pre-filled syringe new product launches.
  • Communicate status for all commercial launches and return products, upward and downward through the organization.
  • Identify risks to product launches and return to market initiatives and work cross functionally to establish mitigation plans.
  • Chair operational/strategic launch and return products team(s) within and across Global Business Unit/Global Operating Unit or Sub Business Unit/Sub Operating Unit
  • Escalate key issues and present options for resolution to the cross-functional executive teams
  • Serve as the U.S. Sterile lnjectables commercial lead for cross-functional new product launch and ready to market improvement initiatives; effectively functioning in a matrix team environment.


  • Bachelor's degree in operations management program management or other related field is required; MBA or Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of successful project management or product portfolio management experience, with a proven track record of leading complex programs in a large corporate, matrix environment.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus; able to meet milestones for multiple simultaneous launches and provide go-to-market-excellence.
  • Product launch and return to market experience in the pharmaceutical field.
  • Self-starter with a successful track record of leading teams to deliver programs on time; drive solutions in a matrix environment across multiple, cross-functional teams.
  • Proven experience interfacing with C-level partners; ability to communicate launch matters to business partners, senior executives, and strategic partners).
  • Ability to bring strategy and analysis to a tactical, executable level.
  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, strategic capabilities, and strong analytical and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines independent of direct supervision; and work collaboratively in a matrix organization.
