SUMMARYSenior Traffic Control Technicians working within the Merit System are responsible for overseeing and participating in the installation of traffic signals, intersections, street lights, cameras and street signs. Their primary focus is performing electronic work (e.g., programming microchips, programming traffic signal phases, etc.) associated with the installation, programming, and troubleshooting of electronic traffic control cabinets and emergency sirens . They create traffic reports detailing necessary traffic control changes that are required for intersections (e.g., signals, signal phases, lane changes, etc.) and communicates changes to appropriate parties. Senior Traffic Control Technicians are also responsible for receiving work orders for installations and repairs and assigning requested orders to subordinate staff. They receive general supervision by senior traffic engineering staff and their work is reviewed based on completed work orders and reports submitted.
